My Little Life Story

It's the little things in life and for me, this couldn't be more true. I come from a wee family consisting of my mother, Elaine, my sister, Rachael and myself. Oh and of course, the two dogs, Gus, my big lad and Pepper the little one. I say with pride I'm from the greatest little country in the world, Ireland and I live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, The Garden of Ireland, Wicklow.  I'm 26 years old and if you know me, the two things to put a smile on my face are working with animals and cooking/dining with friends.

Cooking has always been in my life since I can remember. My mum is a great cook and she ignited my obsession with food and cooking it. Love a good baking session with her in the kitchen. Even if we keep bumping into each other cause our kitchen is so small. Food is just magic. It can send you back in time quicker than The DeLorean with just one bite.  I can still taste my Granny's infamous after school dinners triggered by a smell in the kitchen after mum has been cooking.

So I began helping mum in the kitchen, then went on to Secondary School and fell in love with Home Economics. I died a little bit with happiness every time the teacher would say we had a cooking practical class coming up. Home Ec nerd, and proud of it.

My interest in food expanded when I began working in Avoca, watching the chefs, being that annoying person always asking the tricks of the trade while they were working away.  Over the 6 years working there I learnt so much which made me appreciate the time and effort that goes into beautiful looking and tasting food.

So I've no particular favourite cuisine, although Spanish Tapas could nearly take the title. I love trying new foods, especially when travelling. It's a luxury living in Europe I tell ya, being able to hop on a cheap flight and pop over on a city break to somewhere like Brussels and stuff your face with Belgian Waffles or fly to Madrid and relax with a glass of Sangria while enjoying a Seafood Paella. When I lived in the States in Idaho, I learnt the art of patience when waiting on a smoker to cook large cuts of meat. Always worth the wait, even at 10pm still waiting on dinner. BBQ will never taste as good after you've lived in South Africa and enjoyed Braai. Living in the Bush with Wildlife cooking a Braai feast will never be beaten by any other BBQ you have to offer to me.

So I'm back living in Ireland and decided started to do a food Instagram on all my cooking. I have now been bullied into starting a food page by my mates so here it goes. I hope you all like it.
